Information about the 2025 Whitney Scholarship

The Clyde E. and Rae E. Whitney scholarship is a fund established and administered by the Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska to provide financial support for persons who are currently pursuing or desire to pursue studies in theology, Christian education or sacred music.

One or more scholarships may be awarded annually, and can be used for tuition, room and board or other student expenses. Students may apply for support every year, and scholarship amounts can be increased based on demonstrated need. First priority will be given to female applicants, but all interested parties are encouraged to apply for scholarship support.

Annual award amount: $1,000

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be a resident of Nebraska or Episcopal Province VI.
Applicants must be a member of the Episcopal Church in good standing as defined in the Canons of the Episcopal Church.
Applicants must be currently pursuing or desire to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Theology, Christian Education or Sacred Music.
Applicants must have an academic standing of a Sophomore or above.

Provisions for Funding:
The fund will provide one or more scholarships annually to assist with educational expenses. The scholarships may be awarded to the same recipient for no more than three consecutive years, the recipient must re-apply annually. The money will be paid directly to the student at the time of the award.

Review Process:
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of 3-5 members consisting of clergy and lay members of the Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska.
